نبذة عن جـــــامعة المرقب
تقع جامعة المرقب في المنطقة الممتدة على الشريط الساحلي للبحر الأبيض المتوسط، وكلياتها متناثرة، كخلايا نحل في بستان من الأزهار ـ زاهية الألوان زكية الرائحة ـ فهي موزعة على المدن الرئيسة من: منطقة القربوللي غرباً ـ التي تبعد عن مدينة طرابلس 60 كم ـ إلي مدينة زليتن شرقاً ـ التي تبعد عن مدينة طرابلس 150 كم ـ وتمتد جنوبا لمسافة تزيد عن 70 كم، ومركز إدارتها يقع وسط هذا المثلث الأخضر الغني بالكثافة السكانية في مدينة الخمس، وبذلك تغطي رقعة جغرافية كبيرة تشتمل علي مدن: القربوللي ـ الخمس ـ قصر الأخيار ـ ترهونة ـ مسلاته ـ زليتن، وهذا ما جعلها ضمن الجامعات الأساسية في ليبيا.
أُطلق على جامعة المرقب (قديماً) عدَّة تسميات، أولها الانتفاضة 1990، ثم ناصر 1992، وأخيراً المرقب، حيث صدر القرار رقم (77) لسنة:2001م الذي عُدلت بموجبه تسمية الجامعة، لتصبح جامعة المرقب، ومقرها مدينة الخمس، وآلت إلى الجامعة كافة الكليات والفروع، والأصول الثابتة والمنقولة، وحلَّت محلَّ الجامعة السابقة في كافة الحقوق والالتزامات.
إن اختيار هذه التسمية لم يكن صدفة؛ بل كان تخليداً واعترافا بدور الأجداد والآباء في التصدي للغزاة الفاشست الذين هجموا على بلادنا مع مطلع القرن الماضي، وتصدى لهم شعبنا الأبي على كل شبر من تراب أرضنا الطاهرة، فكانت المعارك الخالدة، ومن بينها معركة المرقب في: 23/10/1911م
تضم الجامعة عدداً من الكليات، موزعة على المنطقة الجغرافية المذكورة أعلاه علي النحو الآتي:
1 ـ منطقة الخمس تحتوي علي الكليات الآتية:
كلية الهندسة ـ كلية الآداب والعلوم ـ كلية الطب البشري ـ كلية الصيدلة ـ كلية التمريض ـ كلية الاقتصاد والتجارة ـ كلية الآثار والسياحة ـ كلية التربية ـ بالإضافة إلي مركز اللغات.
2 ـ منطقة زليتن تحتوي علي الكليات الآتية:
كلية الموارد البحرية ـ كلية الآداب والعلوم ـ كلية طب الأسنان ـ كلية الاقتصاد والتجارة ـ كلية التربية
3 ـ منطقة ترهونة تحتوي علي الكليات الآتية:
كلية الآداب والعلوم ـ كلية البيطرة والزراعة ـ كلية القانون ـ كلية الاقتصاد والتجارة ـ كلية التربية
4 ـ منطقة مسلاته تحتوي علي الكليات الآتية:
كلية الآداب والعلوم ـ كلية التقنية الطبية
5 ـ منطقة القربوللي وقصر الأخيار تحتوي علي الكليات الآتية:
كلية الآداب والعلوم ـ كلية الهندسة
بلغت الطاقة الاستيعابية لجميع مؤسسات الجامعة خلال العام الدراسي 2011 / 2012 حوالي 6 ألاف إلي سبعة ألاف طالب وطالبة مع العلم بان إجمالي الطلاب الدارسين بالجامعة يتراوح بين 30 - 35 ألف طالب وطالبة خلال مطلع العام الدراسي 2012
من جانب أخر تساهم الجامعة في إمداد سوق العمل الليبي بالكوادر والكفاءات في مختلف التخصصات التي سيكون لها الدور الفعال في بناء المجتمع وتحقيق برامج التنمية المستدامة في المجتمع الليبي.
واليوم تعد الجامعة اليوم من الجامعات الأساسية في ليبيا وهي عضو في اتحاد الجامعات العربية واتحاد جامعات العالم الإسلامي وقد قامت بتوقيع العديد من الاتفاقيات مع العديد من المؤسسات الأكاديمية والبحثية علي المستويين العربي والدولي.
جامعة المرقب : الرؤية – الرسالة - الاهداف
الرؤية :
تقديم خدمات تعليمية وبحثية متميزة، لمواكبة معايير الجودة العالمية في مختلف دروب المعرفة رابطة ما تقدمه من برامج وبحوث بمتطلبات التنمية المستدامة في ليبيا، ومحافظة على موقعها الرائد داخلياً، ومتطلعة لاحتلال مواقع الريادة العالمية.
الرسالة :
تسعى جامعة المرقب - من خلال توظيف كل الإمكانيات المتاحة - إلي تقديم مختلف برامج وخدمات التعليم العالي في كل التخصصات والمجالات بما يتوافق مع المواصفات والمعايير العالمية للجودة ؛
الأمر الذي يترتب عليه مخرجات ذات جودة عالية لها القدرة علي تلبية احتياجات المجتمع ومتطلبات التنمية المستدامة وذلك من خلال توفير المناخ العلمي والبحثي المناسب والبرامج التطبيقية المتميزة التي تضمن التقدم والرقي والرفاهية للمجتمع .
الأهداف :
1) الإسهام في التطور والرقي بالتنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والفكرية للمجتمع.
2) النهوض باللغة العربية والتأكيد علي استخدامها لغة رسمية في جميع مؤسسات الجامعة بالإضافة إلي اللغات الحية الأخرى التي تخدم العملية التعليمية.
3) تحقيق التقدم والتطور في مجالات العلم والتقنية والفكر والفن وذلك للإسهام في إنماء الحضارة الإنسانية وتوسيع أفاق المعرفة البشرية و تحقيق التنمية الشاملة.
4) العمل علي بناء الكوادر ذات الكفاءة العالية والمتخصصة في جميع مجالات العلم والمعرفة , وتزويدها بالمستويات المتقدمة من المهارات والخبرات حتى تستطيع القيام بدورها المناط بها في بناء وتطوير المجتمع بما يتماشى مع التطورات المعاصرة ذات التقدم العلمي والتقني .
5) العمل علي دعم وتطوير برامج البحث العلمي والدراسات المختلفة التي تسهم في التقدم العلمي والتقني وتقديم الاستشارات العلمية لجميع مؤسسات المجتمع ؛ الأمر الذي يؤدي إلي نجاح برامج التنمية المستدامة.
6) استخدام كل الإمكانيات المتاحة لخلق بيئة تعليمية وبحثية معاصرة قادرة علي مواجهة التحديات في عصر العولمة , وذلك بالتركيز علي المعرفة باعتبارها محركا أساسيا للتنمية ؛ للوصول إلي مستوي العالمية من حيث المضمون والممارسة , مع المحافظة على قيم وثقافة وتقاليد المجتمع الليبي .
7) المشاركة في المؤتمرات المحلية والدولية والإسهام في عمليات التأليف والطباعة والترجمة والنشر للمؤلفات التعليمية وتوفير المعامل والمختبرات اللازمة لإنجاز ذلك.
8) العمل علي توثيق العلاقات والروابط العلمية والثقافية وتبادل الخبرات مع الهيئات والمؤسسات العلمية الأخرى محلياً وقومياً وعالمياً من خلال إرسال البعثات وإعداد البحوث المشتركة في مختلف التخصصات، وعقد المؤتمرات المحلية والدولية.
Al-Mergib University
A Background of Al-Mergib University
Al-Mergib University lies in the area extending on the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. Its colleges are scattered as bee hives in garden of fragrant flowers with bright colures . they are distributed from the town of Qarabuli in the west, 60 km. from Tripoli to Zlitin in the east 150 km. from Tripoli. It also extends south for a distance of 70 km. It covers a large geographical area including the towns of Qarabuli, Khoms, Qasr Al Alkhyar, Tarhouna, Misalata and Zlitin, which makes it one of the main universities in Libya.
Many names were previously given to Al-Mergib University, the first of which was Al Intifada, then Nasir, and finally Al-Mergib University when the decision 77 of 2001 was taken to change the old university to become Al-Mergib University in Khoms. All colleges, branches, movable and immovable assets were devolved to it thus replacing the previous university (Nasir, university) in all rights and commitments.
The selection of this name was in acknowledgement of the role of our forefathers in confronting the fascist invaders who attacked our country in the beginning of the last century. Our proud people confronted those invaders in heroic battles to defend our land. One of these battles was the battle of Al -Mergib on October 23, 1911.
The university encompasses a number of faculties distributed on the above mentioned geographical area as follows:
1) Khoms area which includes the following faculties:
Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Economics and Commerce, Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism, Faculty of Education, and the Language Centre, the Centre of Roman studies
2) Zlitin area which includes the following faculties:
Faculty of Marine Resources, Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics and Commerce, and Faculty of Education
3) Tarhouna area which includes the following faculties:
Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Commerce, and Faculty of Education
4) Misalata area which encompasses the following faculties:
Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Medical Technology
5) Qarabuli and Qasr Al Akhyar area which encompasses the following faculties:
Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Engineering
The total population of all institutions of the university during the academic year 2011-2012 has reached about thirty to thirty-five thousand students taking in account the total six to seven thousand students from each faculty in the beginning of the academic year 2012.
Recent statistics indicate that the number of graduate students from all other university institutions reached 26678 thousands of students from 2001-2011. The university is thus a rich source of potential Libyan workforce, providing the market with qualified people of different specialties who can contribute to and will have an effective role in achieving the continuous growth programmes in the Libyan society.
Today, Al-Mergeb University is considered one of the main universities in Libya. It is also a member of the Union of Arabic Universities and the Union of Islamic World Universities. It has signed a number of treaties with several academic and research institutions at the Arabic and international levels.

Al-Mergib University shall provide various programs and services of higher education in all specialties and fields according to the specifications and criteria of world quality which results in high quality outputs having the ability to meet the needs of the society and the requirements of continuous growth through providing the proper academic research climate and the applied programs which ensure progress and welfare of the society.

OBJECTIVES
Ø Contribute to the development and progress of social, economic, and intellectual growth of the society.
Ø Promote Arabic language and emphasize its use as the official language in all institutions of the university together with the other major languages which serve the educational process.
Ø Achieve progress and development in the fields of science, technology, and arts to contribute to the growth of the human civilization.
Ø Build highly qualified cadres specializing in all fields of science and knowledge and provide them with advanced levels of skills and experiences on order to be able to perform their relevant role in building and developing the society matching contemporary advances with scientific technological progress.
Ø Support and develop academic research programmes and other different studies which share in scientific and technological progress and provide scientific advice to all institutions of the society for the successful implementation of development programmes.
Ø Use all available capabilities to create contemporary educational and research environment able to face the challenges of globalization by concentrating on knowledge as the main motive of growth to reach the universal level of education, in terms of content and practice together with preserving the values, culture, and customs of Libyan society.
Ø Contribute to the compilation, translation, and publication of educational books and provide the necessary laboratories to achieve this.
Ø Strengthen scientific and cultural relationships and connections with other local and global scientific institutions through sending missions, preparing researches in various specialities, and holding local and international conferences.
